The Fort St. John Association for Community Living (FSJACL) is a non-profit agency which has been providing quality supports to individuals with developmental disabilities and complex needs in Fort St. John and District since 1960. The FSJACL is an accredited agency with a trained, caring, and trusted professional team of over 90 employees who provide quality services and opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities and complex needs. The FSJACL works collaboratively with community partners to achieve our vision of inclusion for all.
Support Workers assist individuals with a variety of tasks, which can include:
- Personal hygiene, assist individuals with activities of daily living such as feeding, lifting and transferring, hygiene grooming, and toileting.
- Assists individuals to function more independently in their home and in the community.
- Assists with daily life skills, social skills and/or behaviour management.
- Teaches and assists individuals with activities such as cooking, money management, shopping, household safety.
- Create opportunities for community inclusion events, activities and advocacy.
- Medication administration.
- Accessing the community to attend events, appointments, or other activities.
We are looking for specific attributes and a candidate with the right personality. Training is provided.
This is a casual position, meaning shifts are scheduled based on availability, seniority, and call-ins, and union (BCGEU) membership is required of all successful applicants. The wage starts at $25.95 per hour (RCW Grid Level 10, Step 1) and 10.6% is paid on all hours worked in lieu of benefits as casual status.

- Able to work shift work. We have programs that are staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
- Valid Canadian drivers license and Class 5 license in order to work in our community based programs.
- Vulnerable sector criminal record clearance. (Completed through the FSJACL after successful interview.)
- Clear Tuberculosis screening. (Instructions for booking screening will be provided after successful interview.)
- Must be 19 years of age or older. Applicants who turn 19 within the calendar year will be considered.
